State College Teener Registration is NOW open.
State College Teener is pleased to announce a new registration site at www.lockeroom.com. This site is being developed at the new Penn State incubator called the "LaunchBox". They are working very closely with us to build a top notch web site to organize and manage our baseball league. Many new features will be rolled out at the site over the next few weeks.
State College Teener has 2 leagues - a 13-14 League and a 15-16 League. A player's eligibility for each league is based on his/her age as of July 31, 2016. The league does allow exceptions. For example, if a player is 15 by July 31 2016 but is still not ready for the older league then we allow that player to stay in the 13-14 league. That player would NOT be eligible for the All Star team because of the district age requirements. In addition, if a player is 17 as of July 31 2016, that player is allowed to play in the 15-16 league but again would not be eligible for All Star play. Registration will be open for several weeks. Once we know how many players we have in each league, managers will be selected and try outs will be scheduled.
We also plan to procure some indoor practice time during Feb and March.
State College Teener is a community baseball league. All players are welcome. Typically a team plays 18 or so games per season plus some in season tournaments. Players play 2 games a week and practice 1 or 2 times a week. Teams will play both State College teams and teams from Bellefonte, Bald Eagle, and Penns Valley. The league will try and schedule very few (preferably zero) games on the weekend. This will allow players to play tournaments and/or travel ball on weekends.
At the end of the season, there is All Star tournaments for both the 13-14 and 15-16 leagues. All Star play is at least 5 games and usually 7 games. The top 2 teams from our district (6 teams total) go to a State All Star tournament.
State College Teener has 2 fields. The lower field has brand new state of the art lights thanks to the fantastic efforts of Ferguson Township. There is also a master plan for other improvements.
The league is completely operated by volunteers and as such, parents will be asked to help run the concession stand and to assist in field maintenance. The league also needs managers, coaches, and board members.
Please contact Jay Nungesser at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Ok enough background - to get started go to lockeroom.com and sign up. There is a video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7hCdP0vonk that shows you the steps to register. This year's fee is $200 and needs to be paid through the new web site. Yes, that is a lot of money but between umpires, uniforms, insurance, field materials, baseballs, etc. it does not even cover the league's costs.
If you have questions on anything, please feel free to reach out to Jay Nungesser at (814) 308-4946 or any Teener League board member. Jim Rohan will be the coordinator for the 13-14 league and he can be reached at email@example.com.
Follow up emails will be sent inviting all interested to an informational meeting about local youth baseball.
